What is the typical training schedule?
Every Sunday evening at Maurice Richard (2-hour practice
plus a 30-minute off-ice session) and an additional practice once a
month.
Do I have to plan a lot of time beside group practices?
Not really except if you plan to do off-ice training or take
part to money raising activities.
What does the competition schedule look like?
One day in December, one or two days in January sometimes a week-end
in the beginning of February and finally a week-end at the end of
February.
How much does it cost per year to be part of
the precision team?
Around $1 300 which include competitions, competition dress,
transportation, and lodging. Not included in the fees are practice dress,
tights, laces, or skates dyeing. The skating team organizes money
raising activities to help its members. However, these activities are
not mandatory.
What the Silver Blades' Precision Team are
looking for?
Having fun and a good team spirit.
What are the requirements to meet in order to
enroll in the team?
The minimum age requirement is 21. You must be able to do
forward and backward crossovers and you should master turns such as
three turns, mohawks, twizzles, etc. Having skating for another precision team
in the past is an asset but not a required element.
How many skaters make up the team? How many
alternates does the team need?
The team is made up of 24 skaters and 4 alternates.
The alternates are not the same through the entire skating year.
What do I do if I miss a practice?
You need to ask another member for the steps in order to learn them
for the next practice.
