FAQs - Equipment Information
I don't have skates. Do you rent them?
We don't rent skates neither do we sell figure skating equipment. You can buy second-hand skates in some figure skating boutiques (Patinage Plus, La boutique du patineur, etc.) to start learning figure skating for at least a half-dozen sessions until you are reasonably sure that you are making progress
and intend to keep skating long enough to justify the investment of buying a good pair of skates.
If you want to skate regularly and seriously, you'd rather buy a good pair of skates. Many skating companies have a Web site you may visit (Jacksonmd,
Gammd,
Risportmd,
MKmd,
etc.).
How much should I expect investing for a good pair of skates?
Approximate cost for boots and blades is $200 to $300.
I have never skated in my life and I'm afraid of doing a bad fall. Can you give an advice?
If you are afraid to fall and hurt yourself, you can buy protective equipment for knees, elbows, and wrists. It's sometimes recommended for beginners to wear a helmet.
What should I wear? Is a special outfit required like in many figure skating clubs for children?
Absolutely not. You should be dressed in warm, comfortable clothing. Socks should be
lightweight and not heavy. Mittens or gloves are also suggested. Knit leggings, sweaters
or sweatshirts are a good choice.
Do you have a club wear?
If so, how can I get one?
We have nice warm-up jackets imprinted with our club logo as well as zipped pants. Many club members show their club spirit wear it proudly!
One or twice a year, the club takes new orders.
